Travel Arrangements
1. Take a Day Ticket (from your Municipality) for CHF 35 or a weekend Day Ticket using your Half Fare card at CHF 64 (weekday Day Ticket is CHF 54). This will allow you to travel from Geneva to Lauterbrunnen)
2. In addition, you need to purchase your roundtrip train ticket from Wengen to Jungfraujoch. Ticket is CHF 74 with half fare card or Day Ticket from the Municipality. Regular ticket is CHF 149.00
3. Make sure you check the route of your additional ticket for Jungfraujoch since there are two ways you can get to Kleine Scheidegg--- via Wengen or via Grindelwald.
Travel Tips
- Trains to Interlaken are normally always full. It is suggested that you reserve your train seat ahead even if you are taking the second class coach. If you are traveling in a group of 6, you can reserve for a train cubicle for 6 and have some privacy.
- Trains to Kleine Scheidegg (cog wheel) is always full. No reservations are allowed.
- Kleine Scheidegg is a busy town that has lots of restaurants near the train station.
- Train travel to Kleine Scheidegg has two or three 5-minute stops to allow passengers to go to the view deck. These stops have toilets.
Top of Europe
- There are toilets where you can change into your winter clothes at the arrival area of the train station.
- There is coffee shop, souvenir shop and Indian restaurant at the arrival terminal.
- From the arrival terminal, take the elevator to the Sphinx Deck where you can get a good glimpse of Jurngfrau Mountain.
- You may wish to consider putting your carry-on things and backpacks into the lockers (CHF 5) which are located on your way to the Sphinx.
- From the Sphinx, proceed down and take the downward elevator to the snow area where you find the snow fun facilities --- outside bar, alpine snow adventure, Tyrolienne (gliding over the glacier --- CHF 25), skiing , snow boarding and sledging. Note, make sure you are properly clothed for the cold.
- From the snow area, take the elevator up and proceed to the Ice Palace to view the ice sculptor exhibits.
- You might wish to check, upon arrival, on the schedule of trains that return to Kleine Scheidden which are posted in the arrival area.
Kleine Scheiddeg
- Train station is a very busy area with lots of restaurants and souvenir shops including hotels.
- Don’t forget to view Eiger Mountain from the view deck behind the restaurant. Follow the signage to find it.
- Place is very scenic.
